The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai observed the 8th Public Transport Day on November 1.
This year’s celebration promoted the use of mass transit for mobility, as well as physical activity among residents.
The day featured events in line with the Dubai Fitness Challenge. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, launched the fitness challenge. The RTA is a Proud Strategic Sponsor of the Challenge.
The RTA included a Public Transport Day Run with fun fitness challenges at different public transport locations.

Transit Helps Promote Sail In Dining
Blue Water Area Transit is working with the Sail In Café & Convenience Store to promote downtown dining bargains and local bus service.
Sail In diners who purchase a lunch for $4 or more receive a free ticket to ride on a BWAT bus. (The Sail In features $4 lunch specials.) November dining bargains also include half-off specialty coffee drinks on Fridays.
The promotion offers a great chance to have lunch and then get a free ride home. BWAT operates seven regularly scheduled bus routes that go directly to the Sail In.
The Sail In is located in the downtown Blue Water Transit Bus Center at 722 McMorran Blvd. It is open to the public Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m
U.S. Telecommuting on the Rise
Five percent of the American workforce now works primarily from home, according to 2016 Census Bureau estimates. An even greater number of workers (about 43 percent) reported working from home in some capacity last year, per a Gallup survey.
How will this trend impact traffic and transit?
Answers will probably start to emerge first in cities where telecommuting is most prevalent. For example, the top metro area for working from home is Boulder, Colorado, where the rate is 12.1 percent.
